How to Boost Your Credit Score

1. Check Your Credit Reports Regularly

Review your credit reports for errors or outdated information. Dispute inaccuracies promptly to avoid negative impacts on your credit score.

2. Pay Your Bills on Time

Late payments can severely harm your credit score. Set up automatic payments or reminders to ensure consistent on-time payments.

3. Reduce Your Credit Card Balances

Aim to use less than 30% of your credit limit, and ideally, keep it below 10% for the best impact on your credit score.

4. Avoid Closing Old Accounts

Keeping older accounts open helps maintain a longer credit history, which positively influences your credit score.

5. Limit New Credit Applications

Multiple credit inquiries in a short period can lower your score. Apply for credit only when necessary.

6. Use a Mix of Credit Types

Having a combination of credit cards, installment loans, and other accounts can show responsible credit use.

7. Resolve Collection Accounts

Pay off debts in collections or negotiate settlements. A paid collection is better than an unpaid one for your credit report.

8. Monitor Credit Utilization

Spread balances across multiple cards and aim for low balances to improve your credit utilization ratio

9. Build Credit with Secured Cards

If you’re rebuilding credit, consider secured credit cards that report to the major credit bureaus.

10. Stay Consistent and Patient

Credit improvement takes time. Avoid drastic changes and focus on building good habits.
